How to Check JAMB UTME Result 2026: SMS Code & Online Portal Guide
See other options below:
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). If you participated in the exam, you are likely anxious to know your score to determine if you meet the cut-off mark for your desired institution.
There are two primary ways to access your performance data: using the offline SMS method (without internet) or via the Online Portal. This guide covers both steps in detail.
Method 1: Check via SMS (No Internet Required)
This is the fastest and most reliable method recommended by the board. You can do this using any basic mobile phone.
- Open your text message (SMS) app.
- Type the word UTMERESULT (all capital letters, no spaces).
- Send the message to 55019 or 66019.
- Important: You must use the same phone number you used during your JAMB registration.
Please Note: This service costs N50. Ensure you have at least N50 airtime credit on your line (not bonus credit) before sending the message. You will receive a reply shortly containing your subject-by-subject scores.
Method 2: Check Online via JAMB eFacility Portal
If you prefer to see your result on a larger screen or need to print a notification slip, follow these steps to access the JAMB Results Portal:
- Visit the official portal at
https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/. - Enter your Registration Number or the Email Address linked to your profile.
- Click on the “Check My Result” button.
- Your result notification will pop up on the screen.
If you are having trouble navigating the site, you can read our detailed guide on Understanding the JAMB Results Portal.
I Have Seen My Score, What Next?
Seeing your score is just the first step. To secure admission into a Nigerian university, polytechnic, or college of education, you need to take specific follow-up actions immediately.
1. Get Your “Original” Result Slip
The notification you see online is not the legal document required for physical clearance. For admission screening, you must download the official colored slip.

2. Calculate Your Aggregate Score
Your JAMB score alone does not guarantee admission. Most schools combine your JAMB score with your O’Level (WAEC/NECO) results and Post-UTME score to get an “Aggregate”.

3. Stay Updated
The admission process changes quickly (cut-off marks, lists releases, etc.). Don’t miss any critical deadlines.

Troubleshooting: Why Can’t I See My Result?
If you sent the SMS or checked online and received a “Result Withheld” or “Candidate Absent” message, consider the following:
- Result Withheld: This often happens due to biometric verification issues or suspected malpractice. You may need to wait 24-48 hours as some results are released in batches.
- Lost SIM Card: If you lost the SIM card used for registration, you must retrieve it from your network provider (MTN, Glo, Airtel, etc.) to access the SMS result service.
